Plerion takes home AISA’s ‘Cybersecurity Startup of the Year’ award
CyRise is pleased to announce the winner of the Australian Information Security Association (AISA) Cybersecurity Startup of the Year: Sydney-based startup, Plerion.
Plerion was founded by serial entrepreneur and co-founder of Cloud Conformity, Mike Rahmati, former AWS security lead Pierre Liddle, as well as Paul Garner, a commercial leader with successful start-up experience.
Plerion brings disconnected security data together and adds meaningful context to answer customer’s most challenging security questions through natural language search.
Plerion graduated from the CyRise Accelerator in May 2022, and recently burst out of stealth mode with the launch of its Beta Program.
Their on-stage pitch impressed the panel of judges: Agathe Savard (Deputy), Jodie Vlassis (Atlassian), and Prof. Robin Doss (Deakin), with Head Judge Ian Gardiner (Jelix Ventures). Mr Gardiner commented during his announcement speech that it was a tough field to decide from, but “ultimately came down to ability to execute”.
Plerion co-founder Pierre Liddle said the team was excited to take home the coveted annual award, funded by CyRise and AISA.
“It has been a thrilling journey, and none of this would be possible without the amazing and extremely hard working team we have here at Plerion. We still have a lot to achieve, this is just the beginning,” he said.
Whilst Plerion impressed the judges, Melbourne-based startup Cynch won over the crowd, taking home the ‘People’s Choice’ award.
The two awards was presented in a ceremony during the AISA Awards Gala in Melbourne, on October 11, 2022.
All finalists for Startup of the Year received a ticket to Australia’s leading cybersecurity conference, CyberCon, in Melbourne, as well as pitch mentoring and three minutes to pitch their startup in front of investors and customers.
The Startup of the Year winner receives a trophy, $5,000 in prize money, and business mentoring, courtesy of CyRise and AISA.
