Innovation and startups in cyber security: our pitching competition at CiB18
Pitching is an art. You need to understand the pain points in the market, clearly offer your solution, and bring the audience along for the ride. We invited five cyber security startups to join us for a pitch session at the 2018 Cyber in Business Conference in Sydney.
What did they pitch and who won the day?
Vaughan Shanks for CYDARM
Incident response is notoriously manual and slow. CYDARM improves workflows, releasing information to those who need it when they need it. They’re providing case management for security operations teams, giving organisations greater efficiencies.
Jacqui Nelson for Dekko Secure
Businesses and government are often confident in their internal security measures, but may have failed to safeguard outgoing communication channels. Dekko Secure provides real privacy for file sharing, instant messaging and email. It’s easy to set up and easy to use.
Tan Huynh for Detexian
Be made aware of potential cyber security concerns before they become problems. Detexian alerts small and medium businesses to activity that could compromise security. A user-friendly interface provides visibility for the whole team.
Paul McCarty for SecureStack
It’s not always feasible to employ multiple cyber security solutions within an organisation. With SecureStack, there’s no need to. SecureStack is a drop-in security layer that works with all existing infrastructure, giving IT managers the ability to address security risk in real time.
Paul Byrne for Amplify Intelligence
Small businesses are not often equipped to safeguard against a data breach. Amplify Intelligence is democratising cyber security — no cyber security knowledge is required. Their hardware solution secures against attacks and alerts users to vulnerabilities.
The winner?
The winning pitch came from Paul McCarty from SecureStack. Thanks to all our contributing startups. Pitching is a skill that we focus on at CyRise. Having a great cyber security solution is the first step, but being able to sell it to your customers is critical to success.
