For any sized business, getting cyber security right is complex. Assessing and improving an organisation’s cyber security stance requires detailed documentation and a focus on taking the right action.

A seasoned pro taking the next step

Fiona Long, CEO of InfoSecAssure has been in the cybersecurity industry and technology industry for over 20 years. Fiona was working in banking in the early 2000s and saw the rise of online banking customers and the accompanying security issues. “I really wanted to be in security,” she explains. After six months of following up, she made her way onto the cyber security team.

“I grew up in banks doing banking security. We were building security to stop the hackers and reduce fraud across multiple channels. I had a $9 million budget. I have a lot of frontline and strategic experience in technology security, in corporates and enterprises. I was the Head of Cybercrime at a data bureau, where I learned how to build and commercialise products in a B2B market. Then I started my own consulting firm which is where I found the big problems my software helps solve,” says Fiona. Her qualifications include an MBA and CISM. She’s an IRAP Assessor and has been a lead auditor for ISO 27001. Fiona was also nominated as one of the top five most outstanding women in Cyber Security in Australia in 2022.

She joined CyRise Accelerator to take her business to the next level. “I’ve been head down building the software and launching to market. As part of the accelerator it’s great getting much more frequent feedback,” she says. “It’s exciting because I’m getting to meet these amazing people — the brave, courageous human beings that are doing the same thing that I’m doing. It’s really exciting to have access to the experts, mentors and investors. Everyone has a story to tell and we can learn from that.”

Solutions for businesses and professional services

InfoSecAssure is a cyber security assurance SaaS platform that enables businesses and their advisors to assess the security of the business across all practice areas, understand key risk and make great decisions on what to focus on next.

For businesses, the platform delivers an immediate 80% reduction in time spent answering security questionnaires. For professional services, the platform enables a x10 reduction in the time it takes to conduct cyber security assessments of clients with professional, repeatable outcomes.

“I want to solve the big problem in the supply chain assurance space where businesses are being impacted by the intensive and intrusive assurance processes being heaped on them. I want our clients to have full locus of control over their security capability and the way they articulate this to their auditors and clients. That’s my vision.” says Fiona.

“We’ve been in the market for less than 12 months and we’ve already got a range of corporate and medium sized businesses on board. I’ve built a product, launched to market and got paying customers with a very small team. Doing a funding round will enable me to build a rockstar team and do what I’m doing but x100,” she explains.

What’s next

InfoSecAssure is preparing for a seed round, firming up value propositions and positioning against competitors. “It’s a busy market and we are working hard to be very clear about who our target market is so we can knock it out of the park,” says Fiona.
