We met Ron Moritz during our mission trip to Israel in November last year. The purpose of that journey was to plunge our cyber security startups into the unique Israeli startup ecosystem, where the pace of development and the standards of execution are world class.
We were impressed by everyone who crossed our path over those 9 days, but one person who really made an impact was Ron. Leading us in a 2-hour session on the defining characteristics of the Israeli ecosystem and how they contribute to its success, Ron was someone with whom we felt instant rapport. We’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be hosting him in Melbourne during March and April as our Entrepreneur in Residence.
As Chairman of Cyber Together, the Israeli Cyber Security Alliance, a Cybersecurity Venture Partner at OurCrowd, former CTO at Symantec and an entrepreneur in the startup space, Ron is perfectly positioned to bring entrepreneurial and industry expertise to our program. We’re edging closer to Demo Day and our focus is narrowing in on growth and going global. Our founders will experience workshops and one-on-one coaching from Ron during his time with CyRise. There’s no doubt that his influence will be evident in the growth we see in the teams over the next few months.
During March and April we’ll be hosting public events in both Melbourne and Sydney. Stay tuned for opportunities to meet and network with Ron and our CyRise founders. There’s a lot we can learn from each other, and we’re excited to expand our community to include such incredible international expertise.

Ron Moritz is a well-regarded cybersecurity industry executive with over 30 years of broad operational, strategy and P&L experience. He has served as a member of the corporate or cybersecurity business unit leadership teams at premier Fortune 500 technology companies Microsoft, Symantec, and CA Technologies, and as CTO of Finjan Software, a first-generation advanced persistent threat start-up, known today as Singtel’s Secure Web Gateway. Most recently, Ron was the CEO of Israeli start-up BioCatch, an innovator in cognitive biometrics and continuous authentication.
Having served as an adviser to C-level execs, boards of directors, VCs and PE firms on value-creation activities, Ron launched TrueBit Cyber Partners to provide truth, clarity and confidence in cybersecurity investments and acquisitions. He is also a venture partner responsible for the enterprise infrastructure software and cybersecurity desk with Jerusalem-based equity crowdfunding firm OurCrowd.
Ron is also an internationally recognized expert on cyber-crime and cyber-warfare who, at the invitation of the U.S. Department of Justice, served as a delegate to the G-8 High-Tech Crime Conferences on Safety, Security, and Confidence in Cyberspace. He successfully challenged and defeated proposed cybersecurity export control legislation in Israel.
